http://www.ninjavideo.net/video/62621I'm going to review it now.
Leave if you haven't seen it.
Or if you're not going to, stick around.
Article 1.
The new logo.
It's interesting. An incorporation of the D and W (Obviously the initials of the show) skillfully arranged to form a Tardis.I'm still in love with the 2005 reboot logo, as well as David Tennant, but we'll get to that later.
I'll admit, it's starting to grow on me.
I don't think it's likely to change anytime soon, so I'm sure I'll grow to like it.
Article 2.
The Music.Weeeelp. The theme music has changed. I'm on the fence again, what a surprise. It's keeping with the more rock-esque tune from season 4 of the reboot. But it's also slightly more... airy than the aforementioned theme. It's also a nice change, as it retains the basic amalgamation of the old and the new. It works well with the theme of this, but we'll talk about that in the next section.
The incidental and background music is fantastic (I don't care if Eccleston's gone, it's still my favourite word). It's creepy when it needs to be, uplifting when it can, and is able to keep your blood and adrenaline flowing.
Article 3.
The New Doctor.

Matt Smith. He's an interesting man. He's funny, which is great. Everyone has become used to David Tennant, with his wacky antics and his inane sayings. More than grow accustomed, we're grown to love them. Which is why I'm very glad that Matt Smith has kept this. BUT, he's also a little more like the Doctor's of old. Very steely, and determined. Here's one that I'm not on the fence about. He gets a pass. I think it'll be intriguing to see where he takes the character.
Article 4.
The Writing.

Spot on. There's a bit of things that get glossed over, but you don't notice them. It's paced quite well, and there is already a sense of foreboding over the whole series. Steven Moffat was my favourite writer from the last few seasons, so I'm very happy that he's been elevated to the position of Head Writer. I like that he managed to work in a quick history lesson of The Doctor (But not until the very end. And really, if you're not already familiar with it, it won't be of any help. It's more a way to show Steven Moffat's love of the character and all he's done.)
There's also a new little tool used. If any of you have seen the recent Sherlock Holmes film, with Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law, you'll remember the sequence wherein Sherlock takes the viewer through the next few seconds and maps out what he's going to do. It's something like that. I like it a lot, it's very clever.
Article 5.
The New Companion.

Karen Gillan is great. She's Scottish, so we get a better accent than the last Companion. And she's ginger, BUT, she's not Donna. Donna is basically the reason I hate gingers, so maybe this Scottish Lass can change my mind.
She's funny, spunky, and will bring an interesting dynamic to the Tardis.
So not that many spoilers in there actually. I'm amazed at my restraint. No matter. It was a fantastic episode, and will hopefully only get better. I'm looking forward to the new season, and will irritate everyone around me with reviews and constant discussion about The Doctor, even if you don't care.
